DVDs ARE WITH ME

My Hubby & I met Faizal just now.
He passed me the DVD, so I'm in charge of them now.

One DVD costs RM10,
a set of 2 (all the 4 dramas) will cost you RM15, according to Faizal.

Please place your orders
if you are interested to get a copy, k.

I've only 5 sets with me...
and I'm told that
Meena, Ellice, Regie and Calvin want them
(please contact me so I can pass them to you,
Cash On Delivery, ok.
Gotta pay back Faizal and Effa).

If there are others who want, please contact me ASAP
and I'll try to get someone to burn extra copies.

p/s: I've just watched them.
Ok la, due to the spotlights our faces are not clearly seen but audio is loud and clear.

Thanks for the good work,
Effa and Faizal.

p/s: sorry friends, can't put up each and every 51 of our faces here. I've problems adjusting the pics in this post :)

FINAL DAY

Hooray!
Finally, practicum is over!
I've been receiving sms, calls and comments from some of you.. Thanks :)

We had a pleasant surprise today in the staff room. The teachers treated us to a Secret Recipe cake, among other foods, as a farewell gesture. Too bad none of us is posted to SMKSN; the staff and teachers are really friendly and helpful.
Anyway, I know most of you are going home today.
Have a safe trip home and regards to everyone at home.
Like my students say as they bid me goodbye, " Have a nice day, Teacher."

Keep in touch. I'll maintain this blog and will post any latest news regarding USM, etc here.

BORANG OPSYEN PERSARAAN 58

I received a call from my salary-paying school this morning.
"Cikgu Aliya, please come on Monday to sign the form, whether you want or retire at age 56 or 58. I have to send the forms to PPD on Tuesday."
What a way to start my holiday.
So friends, please call up your school and check with your clerks.

And yes, although we are still considered cuti belajar until 30 June 2008, we have to sign the forms, whether we want to retire at 56 or 58. The pekeliling is out. If you don't hand in the forms to your school clerk, you'd have to post it yourself to KPM. If you don't do anything at all, then you'd be considered as rejecting this offer and choosing to retire at 56 (which is a really good option actually, heheheee).

I've checked the KPM site and we have until 30 June 2008 to hand in the forms. The date effective is on 1 July 2008.
Please read and understand the pekeliling and borang from: http://www.moe.gov.my/galeri_awam/pemberitahuan/2008/2008_BB_101_2217_9098.pdf

CONGRATS SUGUNA

Good news.
Suguna delivered a baby boy yesterday morning, 18th June 2008.
What a finale!
I still remember her husband tagging along behind the bus as we were on our way to KL, just after her marriage. Eldest son delivered during the 1st year at IPTB, now second son in our final year. Way to go, Suguna, heheheee...
Hope mother and son are healthy and happy :)

Faizal,
Better make a head count of how many who wants the DVD. I don't mind passing them to those in Kedah and Penang, provided they're willing to meet me at Sunway Carnival Mall, Seberang .Jaya, hahahaaa..
As for now, I need 3 - for myself,Chai and Sarala.

TAKE BACK YOUR GAME SETS

Hi, friends.
Please collect your PPG315 assignment from Dr.Leong's office. Please message or call her first to make sure she's around. Please forward this message. (0164541068)
From Saras, and I got the sms from Meena.
Thanks for the info, ladies :)

FIRST VISIT

"Saya cikgu baru," I introduced myself to the school guard who opened the gate with a questioning look on his face. His face suddenly lightened up with a smile.
"Encik, di mana pejabat?"
He pointed at the tall building. Ahhh, my school. Big and spacious. It's a new school. The cars parked outside the building indicated that there're about 50 teachers working there. I grabbed my file and walked towards the office.
I found my way easily, thanks to the clear signboard at the main entrance. A friendly lady greeted me outside the staffroom and showed me the office, which is located next to it.
The office is huge. I was asked to sit on the sofa while the friendly clerk took my letter to the Senior Assistant. The principal was away at a meeting.
Well, I had a long talk with the S.A.
I'm not the only teacher being transferred to the school (there are 3 more) so I'd have to wait until I officially report for duty on 1st July 2008, before I could know which class I'd be teaching, and my other duties in the school. I'm told that there'll be a big reshuffle of the school timetable.
It's a one-session school, so I'll have to get used to driving in the early hours of the morning along trunk roads. Aiyah, it'd be a different experience after 6 weeks of afternoon and evening rides over the Penang bridge, huhuhuu.
Of course, I asked to teach my favourite subjects and asked for my favourite Ko-K activity, giving all the reasons I could think of.
I've also met the school clerk, and got her explanations about transferring my personal documents from my former school to the new one.
Now all I have to do is wait for 1st July.
In the meantime, I'll be filling up the claim forms, heheheee :)

FINAL WEEK

Well, friends.
It's the final week of practicum, and for most of us, the final week as an undergraduate before we start our normal routine of teaching in schools (that's 36 months ago!).
How's your final week of practicum?
I'm happy to inform you that all of us under Dr Tan had our last and third observations last week. Don't be jealous, heheheee.

I haven't received any news about the exact date of our convocation, although it's certainly on one of these dates : 14-17th August 2008. I'll post the confirmed date in this blog once I know about it, so don't worry. Just get your gowns, suits, etc ready for the big day, hahahaa..

By the way, Dr Tan wants to know if we have any questions regarding our salary scale, biasiswa, pinjaman, etc. Please email her if you do, so she could give our questions to the KPM officers when they have a meeting in July. You may also post the questions in this blog.

Happy holidays from 21-30 June 2008.

BRAND NEW WORDS... hahaaa

Wednesday June 11, 2008 (http://thestar.com.my/lifestyle/story.asp?file=/2008/6/11/lifefocus/21227333&sec=lifefocus)

NOTES FROM THE LANGUAGE UNDERGROUNDBy GRANT BARRETT

THIS is a glossary of words that have recently been used in English and do not yet appear in traditional dictionaries.

1-800 car n. A car outfitted with superficial and expensive modifications that make it look like a fast car but which do not improve its performance. Instead of doing the work from scratch, which is more respected among car fans, the car owner has simply bought all the add-ons from a mail order company. 1-800 is a prefix for toll-free phone numbers typically used by the mail order company.

circus gold n. Elephant dung. For a lucky gardener, it is indeed gold. Use humorously.

citjo n. A blend of the words “citizen” and “journalist”, and indicating a non-journalist who contributes amateur video or other reportage to the established news media.

faux-po n. A security guard, also known in slang as turkey bacon, which in return references pig, the derogatory slang name for police. It comes from the French word faux meaning “fake”, and “po-po”, which is English slang for “police”.

floppy n. A comic book, so-named to distinguish it from a thicker graphic novel which is stiff.

happy sack n. An air-sickness bag, the kind typically used on airplanes. Use humorously.

infant-mortality failure n. In engineering circles, this is the breakdown of a piece of machinery that is new or has recently been rebuilt.
instant ancestor n. An old photograph of strangers used as decoration, the sort of thing you might buy at a flea market, a place where old household items are sold.

oopsie baby n. A baby resulting from an unplanned conception. Oops is an interjection used when one makes a small mistake.

quizzam n. A test that is more difficult than a quiz but easier than an exam. The word is made from a blend of “quiz” and “exam.”

rain garden n. A piece of low, damp ground planted with vegetation suited to handle the rainwater that collects there. It’s usually preferable to plant one of these than it is to simply leave a mud hole.

read-alike n. A (fiction) book whose contents are similar to another book’s. Looking for a read-alike helps library patrons find new authors who are similar to authors they already know.

singlism n. Bias against people who are not married or part of a couple.

snarge n. The carcass or remains of a bird that hits an airplane or passes through its jet engine. It is said to be a blend of the words “snot” and “garbage.”

trashout n. When a tenant who is forced out of a home due to foreclosure or eviction leaves it in a squalid – filthy, disgusting – state, it’s called a trashout. The new owner of the house, or the bank that holds the mortgage, has to send in a cleaning crew to clear out all the debris.

trunk monkey n. A rear gunner in an armed vehicle, caravan, or convoy. This word is used among American military personnel and contractors in Iraq. It’s possible that the term derives from an advertisement from Suburban Auto Group, and others in the same series which first aired in Portland, Oregon, in January 2003. One of the ads features a monkey jumping out of a trunk.
vein brother n. A man with whom you get high on injected drugs, especially if you share a needle.

violin hickey n. A mark left on the neck from playing the violin. These can be bruises, calluses, or sores. While a hickey is known by grade-schoolers across the country as the purple mark left by sucking on someone’s neck, it has historically been used to refer to any mark on the skin.

wannarexia: The desire to have an eating disorder so as to be thin and popular is called wannarexia, according to Dr Richard Kreipe of the Western New York Comprehensive Care Center for Eating Disorders in Rochester.

wasta n. The Arabic word for influence, personal connections; “pull” or “juice”. While not yet fully adopted as an English word, wasta is increasingly familiar to American soldiers serving in the Middle East. A previous surge in use of the term among Anglophones happened during the first Gulf War.

Well, friends.
I heard that the list of our posting is out, at least for Penang state. I've already called the Penang JPN and have been told about mine.
So it's time to start checking our postboxes as I was told that the letters will be sent to our home addresses.
For those who get posted back to the schools near your homes, congratulations :)
For those who get posted quite far away, tough luck.

JOKES

hehehee..
Meena emailed me those jokes. Thought I'd share them with the rest of us.

Teacher: Ah Kau, ifyour father has $10 and you ask him for $6, how much would your father still have?
Ah Kau: $10.
Teacher: You don't know Maths.
Ah Kau: You don't know my father la!

Mother: David, come here.
David: Yes, mum.
Mother: You really disappoint me. Your results are getting worse.
David: But but but....I will only get my report card tomorrow ???
Mother: I know that, but I'm going Hong Kong tomorrow so I'm scolding you now.

Father: Why did you fail your Mathematics Test?
Son: On Monday, teacher said 3 + 5 = 8
Father: So?
Son: On Tuesday, she said 4 + 4 = 8. On Wednesday, she said 6 + 2 = 8. If she can't make up her mind, how I know the right answer one??

Girl: Do you love me?
Boy: Yes Dear. Girl: Would you die for me?
Boy: No la, mine is undying love only !!!

Man: How old is your father?
Boy: Same as me la.
Man: How can that be?
Boy: He only became a father when I born ma !!!

Teacher: Simon, your composition on 'My Dog' is exactly the same as your brother's. Did you copy his?
Simon: No la, teacher. It's the same dog!

Father: Your teacher says she finds it impossible to teach you anything!
Son: That's why I tell you she's no good!

Teacher: Where were you born?
Student: Singapore , Sir. Teacher: Which part?
Student: All of me la....

A boy came home from school with his exam results.
' What did you get?' asked his father.
' My marks are under water,' said the boy.
' What do you mean 'under water'?'
' They are all below 'C' (sea) level !'
